“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9
The Church of Scotland walks alongside a broad array of partners from the different geographical, and religious communities throughout Israel and Palestine. It is vital that through these partnerships we recognise that the organisations we partner with are best placed to determine the needs within the areas in which they work. It is essential that those most affected by injustice are not treated as victims, and that we do not simply provide financial resources, but that we are able to advocate and walk with our partners.
Our Palestinian partners speak of sumud, steadfast perseverance, in the face of the ongoing Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, and the importance of having people and churches who were able to support and walk with them. Our Israeli partners speak of the witness of the Prophets to a more just society and of freeing people from distrust and hatred to live as neighbours.
